Ghana is set to showcase its uniqueness in the heart of Switzerland, Zurich to be precise. This novelty is championed by AGUS (Association of Ghana Unions, Switzerland). The event christened Ghana Day, is meant to showcase the rich cultural heritage of Ghana, whilst giving Ghanaians born or domiciled there a unique opportunity to experience true Ghanaianess often displayed at cultural celebrations. It will also market the cultural heritage of Ghana to Switzerland, which can reflect directly in tourism.

Even though there are several Ghanaian associations in Switzerland, the mother body, AGUS, has been able to bring together the various associations for the purposes of Ghana Day; Associations such as Brong-Ahafo Union – Switzerland, Ghana Society Basel – Switzerland, Ghana United Association of Zurich, Ga-Dangme Association of Switzerland, & Great Volta Association have joined hands with AGUS to bring Traditional Drumming & Dancing to the full enjoyment of Ghanaians in Switzerland as well as the Swiss general public.

Whilst Peter Kofi Donkor & Wings of a Dove, Kolonkini and Nana Kofi Simbaleo will thrill people to beautiful percussion tunes, Vivian Hauser & London friends will bring energetic Ghanaian dances to wow the audience. Rex Abbey is the MC of this event.

Live musical performances will be by Black Earth Band, Jenny C, Revelation Power Band (Zurich), Duo Just Be and Shabo & The Crew from Italy.

This event which is meant to be an annual event is supported by the Embassy of Ghana in Switzerland. It is however, sponsored by AGUS in partnership with the Ghana Mission Switzerland and Rolex Vision Management.

Ghana Day – Switzerland is the first outdoor event ever organized by an African nation in the heart of Zurich Switzerland. The venue is Schindlergut Park Kronenstrasse 12, 8006 Zurich. The event starts at 10:00 and closes at 19:00hrs. Entry is free.

What a way to put the spotlight on Ghana and the entire country.
