1.0 The Harmattan School
The Harmattan School was instituted in 2007 by the University for Development Studies to provide a platform for civil society organisations, development practitioners, policy makers and researchers, on an annual basis, to meet and discuss pertinent development issues that affect northern Ghana in particular and Ghana as a whole. It comes on usually in February towards the end of the Harmattan season.
1.1 Objective
The 2018 Harmattan School seeks to bring together interest groups including Academia, Civil Society Organizations, Non Governmental Organisations and Governmental Organisations to discuss issues on “Depoliticizing Education for National Development: The Role of Academia,Civil Society Organisations and Development Partners”.
2.0 Invitation
The Institute for Interdisciplinary Research and Consultancy Services of the University for Development Studies (UDS) in conjunction with its partners is therefore inviting individuals, government agencies, academics, civil society organisations and other interest groups to participate in the 2018 School. People or organisations interested in presenting papers should see details of paper submission below;
2.1 Guidelines for Submissions
Interested persons who wish to make presentations should submit an abstract of not more than 250 words outlining the purpose, methodology, major findings, conclusions and recommendations to the addresses below. Abstracts should also include the title of the paper and contact details. The deadline for the submission of abstracts is by 5:00pm on January 20, 2018. Full papers of accepted abstracts and slides for presentation should be submitted by e-mail in MS Word and MS PowerPoint respectively by January 29, 2018.
NB: Papers presented at the Conference will be reviewed and published in Ghana Journal of Interdisciplinary Research (GJIR).
