Ghana Black Stars and FC Porto striker Majeed Waris, currently on loan to Nantes, has once again extended his kindness to an underprivileged teenager. The beneficiary who is 17year old Abdul Hakeem is not just underprivileged, but has a disability; he is physically challenged, yet, armed with the ambition of successfully attending school and becoming more resourceful to Ghana and the world at large.
The generous acts of the skillful striker who has made efforts to mollify the struggles of many poor people in the Northern Region remains unparalleled. The beneficiary of Majeed Waris’ benevolence hails from Koblimahigu, a suburb of Tamale. He was diagnosed with Tendinitis at the age of 8, whilst in class 4. This caused him to suffered a jolt in his academic pursuit. Abdul Hakeem would have been in senior school if not for the sickness.
How the Majeed Waris Foundation Found Abdul Hakeem
Abdul Hakeem who coincidentally is a football enthusiast has been a staunch fan of Halid Prince Mukadi, a Sports Journalist with Zaa Radio in the Tamale. According to the youngman, one of the episodes of Halid’s show featured the Waris Foundation; after hearing of the good works of Majeed Waris, he urged his uncle to seek support for him from the foundation.
For Hakeem, his disability shouldn’t be a limitation, thus his choice of sports as an area of interest. Also, the loyalty he attaches to the show hosted by Halid Prince Mukadi definitely has brought him some good fortune beyond entertainment and thrills.
The gesture which came in the form of wheelchair and an undisclosed amount of money was received heartily by his family, they expressed immense joy and showered Majeed Waris with a lot of praises and prayer for success.
The images and videos associated with the donation got Majeed Warris charged to do more. He’s therefore pledged to continue supporting Abdul Hakeem to a point of independence.
The donation was by courtesy of the Waris Foundation, funded by Majeed Waris; Halid Prince Mukadi, Harry, Alhaji Hamdan, Mr. BAki and Baaco all played instrumental roles in choosing Abdul Hakeem as a beneficiary of the foundation’s benevolence.
This has been one of several projects to be executed by the foundation.
