Sandema’s biggest music night is coming back. HMB–Buluk to the World 8.0, themed “The Legends Live On”, will take over Sandema Lorry Station on Feok Festival Day. Presented by Stown Records in collaboration with Happy Man Bitters, this year’s edition sets out to celebrate the living and departed legends who shaped Buluk music, from the old school to the new generation.

When Is Buluk to the World 8.0?

As in previous years, the concert is tied to the Feok Festival, the annual celebration of the Builsa people that recalls their resistance against the slave raiders of Babatu. The exact concert date follows once the Feok organising committee announces the festival date. Feok is celebrated every December, and the main festival day has often fallen around 21 December, the same date on which the 2019 and 2020 editions of Buluk to the World were held.

The announcement on the Buluk to the World Facebook page has not yet named performers, so expect the line-up to follow in the coming weeks.

A Sandema Tradition Since 2018

Buluk to the World started in 2018 as an idea shared by DJ Gizy and his crew: a big outdoor night that would let the people of the two Builsa districts enjoy performances from musicians of Builsa extraction, with room for acts from across Ghana. Atigsi was there from the early days. In 2019, Wiaga-born Teflon Flexx headlined a homecoming edition, and in 2020 Mani Mandela led the third edition with a live band, supported by a long list of Upper East acts.

Eight editions in, the event has become part of the Feok calendar alongside the durbar, the war dances and Miss Feok. Happy Man Bitters’ name on the bill also continues the brand’s long backing of Upper East music, which Atigsi has written about in the context of the Upper East Music Awards.

Why “The Legends Live On” Matters

Buluk music has a deep bench of names who carried the sound before streaming numbers existed. Dedicating a whole edition to them gives younger fans a chance to connect the songs they hear at Feok today with the artistes who built the foundation, and gives those still with us their flowers while they can enjoy them.

Follow Buluk to the World on Facebook for the date, line-up and updates, and keep it locked to Atigsi as Feok 2026 gets closer.
