Aphaska Omar win’s an Award for Navrongo.

Sometime in December 2020 Aphaska Omar, a talented actor and musician from Navrongo released visuals to his new song, “Enemies”.  The song appeared to be a prophecy that suggested enemies couldn’t retard his progress. Fast-forward January 2021, Aphaska Omar clinches a career-boosting award. Most Promising Artiste of the Year 2020.

Who Is Aphaska Omar?

Aphaska Omar may not be the most popular artiste in Ghana, but he’s one of the few indigenes of Navrongo going hard on his music hustle. Despite being an independent artiste, he’s strived to make all the necessary moves to safeguard a pending rise. Winning the Most Promising Artiste of the Year at the Ghana Entertainment Choice Awards, is definitely the results of the hard work.

He is arguably one of the most vocal, consistent and influential when it comes to contemporary music in Navrongo. Even though he no longer lives there, the young singer who doubles as an actor has constantly kept Navrongo in all aspects of his art. He’s known for regularly participating in music-related events in the region. The last major event however ended up in an altercation that earned him and an arc-rival a summon to the Navoro Pio’s palace.

Suffice to say, this artiste, who has a bit of rugged history has switched up his game. His concentration appears to fully be immersed in attaining another level of success. Thus, the numerous releases of songs that inspire, elevate and entertain.

With the release of his Enemies song in August 2020, followed by a video in December of the same year, Aphaska Omar unearthed his new focus. Enemies is receiving a good amount or airplay both on radio and TV.

The Most Promising Artiste of the Year, Aphaska Omar is currently promoting “Enye By Force”, another beautiful song.

Aphaska Omar at some point was the the embodiment of “beefs” and “shades”. However, the Free Your Mind Entertainment boss has shelved that to pursue the business of music without puns.

Showboy Rescues Atigsi-Badek with an impetuous song titled $10K.

0

My name is Atigsi-Badek, and I am a thinker. His name is Showboy, and he is a musician. The beauty of what I do is that, I freely express and update my thoughts when necessary. However, few musicians consider truth when expressing thoughts on the welfare of musicians. This is probably what has exposed the true worth of Showboy to the world.

It’s 2021, I am being dragged on the streets of Facebook for receiving a citation from the Happy Man Bitters sponsored event, Upper East Music Awards 2020. Whilst I bob and weave through the obviously mischievous salvos, Showboy decides to come to my rescue.

Typical of the Upper East Region, a barrage of controversies, and complaints characterize the end of each December. Mostly from the events that marked the holiday period. This year, as the disputations surrounding the events begun to trickle in, Showboy decides to steal the show by drawing attention to himself.

Taking to his Facebook timeline, Showboy hinted at charging nothing less than $10k from thence. That is to say his minimum charge to perform at an event is now Ten Thousand US Dollars. In other words, for him to perform at your event, you’ll have to pay him Fifty-Eight Thousand Ghana Cedis (GHS58,000)

With an ongoing discourse, Showboy decides to play smart by releasing a song. Unfortunately, the song is an impetuous production meant to satisfy his ego. The song titled $10K lacks what can serve as the basis for wishfully desiring GHS58,000.

Listen to $10K By Showboy below.

Akin to Shatta Wale, Showboy, also known as Wahidu Adisa, has often dwelled on controversies to advance his brand. However, it appears he may have bitten more than he could chew. One would have expected his team to channel their energy into promoting his last album BBMO. The album has some pretty good music, and could actually help gain more traction. But, alas, the owner of Bolgatanga and all its Zongo’s chose to trend. Unfortunately, the song resulting from the discourse on charges has failed to cement the worthiness of Showboy.

For an artiste who was gallivanting around the Upper East Region due to a number of performance schedules; It would be nice to know he made a fat income. Unfortunately, $10k suggests otherwise.

The Bon Dee Entertainment signee is undoubtedly an entertainer in his own regard. However, whether he chooses to be a rapper or a singer, he’s got so much more ork to do.

Can event organizers in the Upper East Region pay an artiste GHS58,000?

As a song, it serves as a reminder to all about the boundless capabilities of humanity. It encourages all to acknowledge the fact that life is saddled with numerous downfalls, however, meaning is given to life in the ability to rise again.

Born Winner was produced by KV Bangerz of Beat Jonkeys fame. Released on the Bakus Entertainment Records Label, Born Winner is the official new year resolution for all who aspire to succeed. Quata Budukusu is still on that journey to conquering the world with music.

Meanwhile, Quata Budukusu has something coming soon for rap enthusiasts. Get ready for an indefectible flow of lyrical content from this amazing rapper.

For someone who speaks rap and lives on music, his forte will always be within same circles. Quata Budukusu upholds his role as a healer and entertainer by continuously dropping songs that touch everyone differently. From a pure display of lyrical dexterity, and cross-genre maneuvering to touching lyrics, he excels. 2021 is therefore going to be yet another journey backed by motivation & feel-good music.

Taking to his Facebook page, the versatile artiste announced a pending single titled “Quantified”. The single which is produced by Kv Bangerz, according to Quata Budukusu is a gift to rap lovers. “Quantified” is purely a dexterous flow of bars and punchlines akin to the days of rap battles emanating from a broad knowledge. With a semblance to braggadociosness, Quata Budukus described “Quantified” as “…another dimension of hip-hop”.

Quata Budukusu has been around since the early days of Hip-life. Working with pioneers like Hammer, Ubeatz and several others, he’s has always proven to be a rapper out of the league of many. Noted for a style of rap called “tongue twisting”, he’s probably the fastest rapper in Ghana. To prove versatility, he often switches from tongue-twisting to thrill people who may not be full rap fans.

The story of rap and its growth in Ghana would never be without Quata Budukusu. He’s been referred to as “a rapper’s slayer”. Reason being that, he serves beef hot and spicy, thus no rapper in Ghana really wants a lyrical war with him.

…Dada Hafco keeping Highlife alive?

0

PlayBoy by Dada Hafco ft. Akwaboah is basically a story of a man who has given up on womanizing. This come’s from meeting a woman he’s willing to sacrifice his womanizing nature for. It details the true nature of a Playboy, and the reality that we each find one one person we can always commit fully to. Now, that is true highlife. The genre that speaks all kinds of morals to the society in a very melodious and rhythmic way.

To truly pursue Highlife, one is expected to be deep with language and thoughts. It is therefore exciting to have two of Ghana’s finest song writers on one song. When such two people pen a song, you can expect nothing short of awesome.

Undoubtedly, Highlife as a genre has witnessed a decline. A situation often trumpeted by artistes like Amakye Dede. It is therefore commendable that wise and smart people like Dada Hafco have chosen to stick with the genre.

Dada Hafco who transitioned from being a rapper to one of the few holding the fort for highlife. His continuous churning-out of timeless songs is gradually making him own a certain space unexploited. An artiste’s repertoire is very important when he or she is offered gigs. The ability to drop countless and exciting music over a desired stage-performance period is a big plus for true artistes. This assertion therefore places Dada Hafco above his peers considering how much awesome music he’s released in the past few years.

From “Hini Mi” , “Ma Yentena ft. the late Castro”, to “Are You Your Boyfriend’s Girlfriend” and now PlayBoy…He has enough music to thrill true lovers of music, and for that that matter the highlife genre.

Despite the dumbing-down of lyrics, artistes like Dada Hafco continue to string together lyrics that touches the very nature of man.  Highlife is still alive, and artistes like Dada Hafco & Akwaboah appear poised to keep it as such.

Bars of A Legend is a Statement from Tilakou – Listen Up

Bars of a Legend. Without mincing words, Tilakou’s newest song is most likely his hardest show as a rapper. The flow, delivery & content resonates the force he has become in the industry.

Coming on the heels of a brouhaha surrounding remunerating artistes in the region. Bars of a Legend will makes a good case to mount when amazing productions determine an artiste’s worth. Bars of a Legend is definitely not a hastily done production. But rather a song made to satisfy the thirst of rap aficionado’s in the region…and probably beyond.

Listen to Bars of a Legend below.

Tilakou teaming up with Typanza is yet another smart move by the Voum hitmaker. Typanza is one of the most underrated artistes from the northern part of Ghana. Thus, Tilakou goes beyond acknowledging his own artistry. He exhibits appropriateness in showcasing another great artiste to the world. He did a similar thing with B-Wayne. Suffice to say, the enigmatic B-Wayne is an Afro-Pop artiste from the Upper East Region. His work with Tilakou proved why he is a contender for Afro-Beats King to emerge from the UE. Undoubtedly, the relevance of Tilakou further cemented B-Wayne’s awesomeness.

The year 2021 has generally started well for music in the Upper East Region. A lot of conversations have come up regarding the growth of the industry. Also, Soorebia has dropped a new anthem titled “Bemboe”. Tilakou follows with Bars of a Legend. The ever-controversial yet entertaining representative of the Bolgatanga Zongo also made statements culminating in a song titled $10K. Even though I’m personally not impressed by the song released by Showboy, I’ll leave that for a bigger conversation.

When Soorebia emerged 3 Music’s Next Rated artiste of the year, it was just a tip of what the region has to offer.

Bars of a Legend was produced by MMC for Originalz Muzic & Jorok Entertainment. It is performed by Tilakou & Typanza.
